If anything can get science and the paranormal studies back on the same track it is the phenomena associated with all the things that remained unexplained. In days gone by the unexplainable drew scientists like a magnet and most scientists up through the 1930's recognized the possibility of spiritual phenomena whether they were spiritual or not. I need to make this perfectly clear, spirituality has absolutely nothing to do with one's religious belief. I know spiritual atheists and non-spiritual fundamentalists. Spirituality comes from acceptance and meditation. Religion comes from education and faith.

I have never read anywhere why mainstream science turned it's back on spiritual phenomena after the 1930's but I suspect World War 2 and the rush to technology played a large hand. In the days of Thomas Edison there were not a lot of rules. Inventions were up for grabs and research facilities were put together with whatever equipment and people one could get their hands on. There were very few bean counters or corporate executives involved. As a result of WW2, technology and science became businesses and no one saw any serious profit in pursuing spiritual research. They left that profit to the charlatans and fakirs who eagerly used peoples emotions to line their pockets. Science was content to line the pockets of the moguls who controlled the research money essential to any scientific study. One of the early examples of that was Western Union telling Thomas Edison to stop working on his machine to talk to the dead because they didn't want him to waste his time or blemish the reputation of Western Union.
The charlatans stained the study of all things spiritual and unexplained to the point people like Harry Houdini spent a lot of money exposing them. Imagine if Mr. Houdini, who desperately wanted to become involved with the spiritual side of existence, would have been free to invest his money pursuing research instead of exposing quackery.The tragedy, industry absorbed science and the study of spiritual phenomena turned into a media circus.
The problem is, the 800 pound gorilla in the corner (spiritual phenomena) never goes away. Stuff keeps happening and despite our advances in knowledge via science and technology the plethora of things that could have a spiritual explanation are just as mysterious today as they were in the 1400's. Do things like delusions, paranoia and schizophrenia have a spiritual component to them? What about conditions like autism, homosexuality and extra sensory perception? Add past life recall and observed phenomena like spirits, orbs and UFO's. There are many more.
The unexplained accounts for thousands of books, television shows, movies, seances, public meetings and one can only wonder how many discussions and we do not invest a whole lot of time or money seeking any answers. There are a few universities attempting to do research and a small group of scientists who are trying to do research but, compared to building a collider in Switzerland to detect a particle we are not sure exists, the money spent is pocket money.
Nazi Germany and Russia did spend money conducting research but very little is known about their findings. There are more conspiracy theories based on their research than one can shake a stick at and many who have found their spirit believe some are not conspiracies and are being practiced in today's world. The tiny amount being spent on real research adds credence to the conspirators.
The bottom line, I believe, is the moguls of the world see no profit to be made and they are 100 percent right. People who are in touch with their spiritual side tend to lead very simple lives. They do not need gadgets to be happy. They do not respond to mass media marketing and they are usually not interested in politics. They see all people as their equals. Stop and think how much money is made by maintaining inequality between us all and it is not hard to see why more is not being done toward understanding the spiritual aspect of ourselves.
Anyone whose life energy, conscious mind and body is not affected by any sort of trauma, that can interfere with the process, can attune themselves to their spiritual self via meditation. The down side is finding or making the time to do it. For those who may not know, prayer is not meditation. If one is constantly praying mediation is impossible but religion has nothing to do with the process. Meditation will certainly expand ones religious beliefs but the person of any faith will still be a practitioner of the same faith though they may look at their faith in a better light.
Two people who had more time to meditate than most were Gandhi and Mandela. Neither changed their core religious beliefs but both accomplished more to ease the suffering of their fellow man than any President of the United States has. Both spent time in prison where they had plenty of time to meditate. There is no record of Martin Luther King Jr. meditating, though he did study the life of Gandhi. At the minimum he adopted his concept of non violence from Gandhi's teachings. Any meditation he may have kept to himself as it is normally not associated with the Christian faith. That is changing.
I suggest we stop slowing it down and I have some ideas on how we can do that. With apologies to my guide, I am not going to separate what I have studied from what I have been told. If anyone wants to know which, contact me and I will be glad to tell you how I came by the information.
First stop looking in the wrong places. Second do not go into any project trying to prove a point. I am not worried. I am totally convinced existence has a spiritual component. If indisputable evidence is found there is no spiritual side so be it but that is not going to happen. I have no fear either way. I have lived, I am living now, and I will live again. The worst possible scenario is I wont live again and I will have no awareness and most of us experience that every night when we go to sleep. I could write a book on that subject and I just may someday but I need to stay on topic.
Let's focus on the first thing. If we have an energy form or spirit if you prefer that exists past physical life, it will exist according to the laws of our universe and will be subject to all the conditions any energy is subject to. The first thing is don't waste time looking for attributes an energy form doesn't have. The ability of any energy form is based on how much energy is present. You stand in direct sunlight you get sunburned. You stand in the shade you don't. It is the same energy. There is just less of it.
If anyone presents themselves as an expert on the process of spiritual phenomena ask them how much physics they have studied, specifically physics that has to do with the properties of energy. If they have little or no education or experience the person simply has no idea what they are talking about when it comes to seeing, listening or sensing the presence of spiritual entities. I am not talking about readers or mediums or anyone who is connected to the spiritual world mentally because they are an essential requirement, No one can do research in the field of spirituality without a person who has attained a high level of spiritual awareness being present.
If you want to see, hear, or feel the presence of spirits, first get a degree in physics with a focus on energy and how it presents itself. Second become a reader, medium or channeler. If you are neither find people who are either and make them part of your project. I am not saying you have to be either to experience any of the phenomena associated with anything spiritual. What I am saying is you have to have their training and ability to understand what it is you are experiencing.
I know we can build tools to assist us in the process. I also know that most of the tools being used today are wrong because the wrong people are using them and they are looking in the wrong place with the wrong tools. I am not about to give away what I know because I want to be involved in this research and hopefully I can find a way to share what I know without becoming the goose that laid one too many golden eggs. I have to lay a few to get any interest so here goes.
If you know your physics well enough to understand it, even if you leave the math to the people that are really into it, all you have to do is let yourself believe there may be something behind all the unexplained phenomena that is part of many peoples every day lives. We are dealing with an energy that conforms to the rules of the universe so there are no surprises here. There may be new discoveries which will apply to all forms of energy.
Think about how energy presents itself to our abilities so we are aware of its presence like standing out in the sun too long. How do we see energy? That's easy. We see light that is part of the visible spectrum but is the human eye capable of responding to energy in waveforms above and below the visible spectrum? Would ones eyes need to be open and would there need to be other light available to activate certain elements in the human eye? Those that are using infrared to explore the presence of spiritual phenomena are at the wrong end of the spectrum.
Maybe one needs a catalyst to make life energy visible. That catalyst could be light sources coherent and non coherent, gases, suspended particulate matter, ion or plasma fields, or electromagnetic fields under a variety of conditions. When considering quantity of energy, one needs to remember the human eye is capable of resolving one photon of energy. We are not looking for a high powered signal when it comes to seeing a spiritual entity,
Hearing energy using our normal senses takes more power and spiritual energy does not have high levels of energy, One needs to amplify the signal but the question becomes amplify what? The end result is an audible signal but the source would need something to give it the power needed to record and amplify the signal. Once again a catalyst of some sort is required. The spiritual member of any team may have to be part of any device used to listen to the energies of those who currently have no physical body.
Sensing an entity will follow the same parameters as hearing one. There is another way for all of this to occur and I would love to be part of any research that explored it. It is possible that any energy we encounter may be able to conjoin with our entity and use our own senses to communicate with us by sight, sound or touch. It would explain people who hear voices, though most who do, have trauma associated with the condition. Under conditions of trauma chaos prevails and one cannot study subjects that are traumatized but there may be people who are not traumatized that are unable to relate what is happening to them without undergoing medical treatment. I am considered delusional though I show none of the signs of delusional behavior. I have much more I can say but I am not laying anymore eggs for the moment.
They tell writers to never stomp on the lead but obviously I didn't listen to well in class but I haven't forgotten it. Let's talk about orbs. The phenomena appears to be on the rise. Here is a prime example of where science and the spiritual have went separate ways. First of all everyone or their camera is seeing something. We have the results in digital form mostly. There is a reason for that.
I know a lot about the properties of light and I have no scientific explanation for a lot of the photos I have seen. I do have one for some of the photos I have seen but I wasn't there when the photo was taken so I have no leg to stand on should I call a phenomena flash bounce or refracted light off of a dust particle. Since anyone can capture these photos, there is no way we can tell the people who take them they need to get an education in physics before arriving at a decision regarding what they have caught on their media. I do have some suggestions.
If you are a spiritual person and, you know you are if you are one, do you feel any spiritual presence when you see this phenomena? It's one thing to be standing in a scene ablaze with orbs which is no doubt awe inspiring but it would be another if everyone one of those orbs was a spiritual presence. I believe every spiritual person can tell the difference. If you do feel spiritual presence there is nothing you need do to prove anything to anybody. If anyone chooses not to believe you that is their problem.
If it is a one time occurrence there is nothing anyone can do anyway but my understanding is this phenomena has a tendency to repeat itself in certain locations and there are many out there that seek out opportunities to photograph the phenomena. Once again, if you sense the spiritual presence, you have nothing to prove to anybody unless you want to. If you want to share your work with the world, then expect criticism but you can silence the critics if you take a few steps. The easiest step is to pair up with a professional photographer. Both of you will learn something.
It probably will be very difficult to find a professional unless you don't mind spending money. If I was going to be taking a lot of these photos I would buy a second camera, preferably a film one and I would gate the two cameras together so they used the same flash at night and took a photo at the same time. All one needs is a sightly different lens angle between the cameras. One of them could be a video camera as long as each shot is time stamped on both. If you have any questions on how to set the cameras up any professional photographer can help you out and it would be money well spent as I know there are a lot of people in the scientific community who would take notice of your photography if you were using two cameras instead of one, especially if one of them is a film camera.
Since we are talking photography why don't we ever see close ups of UFO's? It seems like the pilots know when someone is to close with a camera but what if everyone who has captured them on film or tape had a telescopic lens? You can even buy them with stabilization for a reasonable amount of money. Most people who get these photos were not looking for one when they took its picture but there are a lot of people who seek them out and I do not understand why they don't use the right tool for the job. Is it possible UFO's are simply another form of spiritual phenomena? Sightings have been correlated to historically significant religious events.
I do not know if everyone who meditates will attain spiritual alignment but I think the odds are good. For those who do not have the time to meditate or have had no success doing so I suggest they donate money to any serious research program as well as seek the advice of those who offer their spiritual services for a fee. I have been told by more than one that they have to eat too and I couldn't agree more. My experience is the ones who are not in it solely for the money will have their door open when you need them. If they are using tactics that keep you coming back be wary.
There is one thing everyone needs to contemplate when it comes to anything spiritual. I have seen no evil myself. I have not even seen a hint of anything evil. I believe the evil associated with the spiritual exists solely in the minds of people that have been traumatized mentally, physically or both. Should I ever encounter an evil spirit I will be the first to say so but I harbor no fear. Spirituality is all about peace and harmony and those that attain high levels of spirituality all work for the benefit of all mankind. That doesn't make them pushovers. It may make them martyrs.
Do ghosts exist? These of course would be the spirits of other people. I am amazed at how we always jump to the conclusion that what people see, sense or hear is the spirits of dead people? Why do they have to be dead? Most of us believe we have a spirit. If you believe in God, heaven, nirvana. or reincarnation you believe the spirit exists outside the physical body. There is no reason we cannot be experiencing the spirit of living people instead of dead ones. If they are the spirits of the dead why are they sticking around? I know go to the light but looks like their bulb is out.
Reincarnation is certainly one possibility. The spirit is waiting for the next available physical body, be it chosen randomly or by some master plan. That doesn't explain people who experience ghosts that have supposedly been haunting a house for hundreds of years. If there were a lack of new born that would make a little sense but my math says 9 out of 10 people being born today are brand new spirits, be they created with the new body or sent here from some spirit pool, so there is no waiting. Could it be what they are experiencing is the memories of an old spirit placing a part of its energy in a location so some tragedy will not be forgotten?
The spirit is quite happy with its new physical form but part of its energy could be taking care of old business. Maybe we should start looking for live people when we encounter ghostly phenomena not dead ones. You have to admit it is a new approach and all the current research out there is not producing valid enough results to make any earth shattering observations and make them stick. Suppose we could find the person with the spirit creating the phenomena. Putting them at the scene of the haunting could have dramatic results.
How would we go about doing that? Modern media may offer a real solution. There are a lot of people looking for ghosts. If you have cable television it is impossible to switch through the channels without seeing a negative image of people using low light level and infra red cameras to capture things that go bump in the night. Most of the time that is what they do capture, things that make sound. If you are watching one of these shows and get a strong sense of connection maybe you should call or write the show producers and see what comes of it.
Spirit
It is almost impossible to deny mankind has spirit which is an integral part of who we are. One can use the word in a religious definition, a metaphysical definition or a metaphorical definition. Many atheists will admit there is a quantitative factor called spirit. They would be quick to point out there is no God involved. In their world, the body dies and the spirit dies with it. They are alone as no other belief practiced by mankind believes the spirit dies when the body dies.
To date, no one has proven a spirit exists without a physical body. To date, no one has proven a spirit cannot exist without a physical body. We have had over two thousand years to contemplate whether spirit does in fact exist. I believe we currently have the technological ability to prove whether a spirit exists or doesn't. We build billion dollar particle colliders looking for a boson we are not sure exists and we don't bother spending anywhere near that sum of money looking for the existence of a spirit even though it's existence has puzzled mankind for far longer than the boson has. We even call the Higgs boson, the God particle.
It would be more apropos to call it God's catalyst. Our spirit is the God particle if it exists independent of the physical body.
The question is does our spirit exist when the physical body ultimately dies? Normally when one asks a question one is allowed to seek an answer but that is not the case when it comes to our spirit. We first encounter a huge roadblock called faith which states, we don't have to prove it because it is a matter of faith. If this was any other subject that argument would be ridiculed but faith is sacrosanct. In fact it is essential that no one ever prove our spirit exists as it would traumatize any religious belief to it's very core.
The second obstacle is entropy which is a word that normally applies to the second law of thermodynamics but there are billions of people who have replaced the word with terms like Nirvana or what most call, the end of our individual journey. There really is no need to substitute another term for entropy because, if our spirits exist, they are energy.
It makes no difference if that energy ends up in heaven, hell, nirvana or any other choice that signifies the end of our journey. Any of those terms do conform to the second law of thermodynamics which is another way of saying this universe we find ourselves in is finite and the journey will one day end. The question now becomes will it? The end of this journey may very well be the start of a new one. Another possibility is there are multiple journeys happening in other dimensions. I suggest we try and figure this journey out before looking into other possibilities.
Apparently the thinking is, "It all ends the same so why bother studying it?" Not a bad observation but the same reasoning applies to the Higgs Boson and we are spending billions proving whether it does or doesn't exist. I think our spirits are just as worthy as the Higgs Boson. Our spirit is also an integral part of our universe if it does exist after physical death.
I believe I have removed the state of entropy as an obstacle to research. Faith is a lot more entrenched. We simply have to decide to do the research in spite of it.
There is another factor at play and that is denial of spirit. I am not sure why we play this game. Could it be a conspiracy? If it is, it is a very subtle one. Obviously those who seek power and financial control over all people do not want anyone to become overly aware of their spirit whether it is eternal or not. The reason is simple. Those who are in touch with their spirit resist conformity. If conformity becomes difficult, control becomes impossible. Those of you who feel no need to meditate need to reflect on what should be totally obvious to every person on this planet. Meditation is the only tool you have if you respect the individuality that God or the laws of nature has given you. They can control your prayers by teaching you how to pray but they can never control your meditation. They can't even prevent it. If you need proof study the lives of Mandela, Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.
Is Valentine's day a conspiracy? There is a reason why I am picking on that cute little cherub cupid. This holiday is a perfect example of our species tendency to deny our own spirit. Love is a major component of our spiritual self. It has absolutely nothing to do with our heart. We laud people by saying, "They have a really big heart!" when in fact, a really big heart is a life threatening condition or disease. The heart is a mindless lump of protein that does exactly what it is told by the two major components of our nervous system. It does keep our body alive. It has nothing to do with our spirit. If it ceases to function our spirit leaves or dies with our body. By focusing on our heart, when it comes to things like love and compassion, we fail to focus on our spirit and, like I said introducing the last two paragraphs, I am not sure why we play this game but play it we do.
I am not going to bore the readers of this with why I know the following information. All I ask is you read it and I eagerly challenge anyone to disprove my hypothesis. It is how science works or said more succinctly, it is how science should work. No one seems willing to research mistakes anymore. That era appears to have ended with Thomas Edison.
From this point on we will assume a spirit does exist after the physical body expires. It was energy before the body expired and it is energy after the body expires. Since it is energy we can detect it provided we have the right tools and are looking in the right place. The tools we either have or we can adapt for the experiment from existing ones. Initially the starting point is looking back at us from any mirror. Each one of us comes with a spirit. We may or may not be in touch with it but we have one nevertheless. Possibly it will be easier to detect in those who are in touch with their spirits. That is where I would start.
I would first take a look at the properties of light. Light opens up all sorts of possibilities in the field of Quantum physics like something able to exist in two places at the same time and open string theory. That is all I am going to say about Quantum physics. Light has truly amazing proprieties at very low energy levels. Light, through a variety of methods, can carry massive amounts of information.
I would start in the range of 415nm to 430nm and I would focus on the brain stem as the most active component in the human body in reference to our spirit. My hypothesis's is our spirit exists in two places simultaneously, one place being at a point in our brain stem. The other point is outside of the physical body. As energy our spirit conforms to the laws of all energy and it is affected by things like vacuums, gases, forces and other types of energy.
It is why things like the copper bracelet I wear on my wrist to ease the pain of arthritis and acupuncture and chiropractry work for some. I know of no study that evaluates the effectiveness of these procedures as compared to the awareness of one's spirit. I believe a study measuring the benefit of holistic healing and alternative healing to the degree one is in touch with their spirit would provide ample proof our spirit exists. I think most of us have made the connection already.
Obviously the huge break through here is being able to somehow observe the process of our spirits in action. We have the tools or can adapt the tools we have to do this. Once observed we can then observe the spirit leaving the body and the death of the body is the obvious place to start. This will require volunteers but I believe there will be more than enough who will want to participate once we have observed the human spirit in everyday conditions.
We have now corroborated what most people already believe through faith or meditation, we have a spirit that leaves the body. The atheist can still say, "So What!" until we can observe what happens after the spirit leaves the body. At this point we now have the tools and have gained the knowledge to conduct further research.
The next most obvious step is to switch our focus to the other end of human existence, birth and creation. The fact our spirits exist outside a physical body not only opens the door to heaven, hell and entropy, it also opens the door to reincarnation. That fact has plagued all organized western religions since their establishment. If reincarnation exists, it challenges the concept of retribution for ones sins and it questions there being a hell.
If you think the abortion/choice debate is heated wait until we can actually observe the human spirit. Unless there is change in mindset in the western hemisphere we can forget any research happening there. Even Western Europe is questionable. This research will undoubtedly be conducted in a part of the world where reincarnation has been accepted as valid for centuries. This research will arrive at one of three conclusions. The first conclusion: All spirits are new spirits and those who follow western religions can rejoice in the fact their faith was valid all along.
The second conclusion: Some spirits are old spirits and some are new spirits. In that case everybody walks away with something but all the debates go on. The only point that would no longer be debatable would be reincarnation and western religions would have to work it into their belief systems. That would involve consuming large quantities of crow but I do believe all faiths would survive. The only ones who would find themselves living on a flat world when it was round would be the atheists and most of them I know would embrace this new information graciously.
The third conclusion: All spirits are old. In this case everyone's ox gets gored with the exception of those that believe entropy is the end state. In this case we make the Dalai Lama the leader of the world and get used to the color orange. It will be a brave new world. I do not believe the adaptation will come easy so I am holding out for the second conclusion.
There is a very good reason the third conclusion is not likely. The following numbers are assumptions but they do show how the model would work if reincarnation is happening. Many sources place the number of human beings that have lived on this planet since we could be considered human beings at around 60 billion. If the average life span of these individuals was 50 years and reincarnation is happening that computes to 1200 million unique spirits to date. Current world population is close to 7 billion which says that 1 in 6 people is an old spirit. Actually the number is going to be less than 1200 million as some have had more than one reincarnation. The number is hard to extrapolate because population increases have not been linear. A safe guess would be 1 in 10 is an old spirit.
No wonder there isn't more wisdom in the world. It also means we can't settle for conclusion one until we have made sure our sample rate is valid,
If you have attended a meeting of new age people, astrologers, readers and mediums you will have noticed that practically every reading involves past lives and on the surface that appears to be dubious since only 1 in 10 people is an old spirit with one or more past lives. There is another possibility. Those with old spirits are drawn to each other. An interesting study would be to compare the demographic of any area against the number of people who are involved in old spirit activities. Call it intuition but I get the feeling it is going to work out to be 1 in 10 of the population of the area in question.
If we look at current trends the world death rate per thousand people in the year 2000 was 10 per thousand. In 2011 it is projected to be 8 per thousand. In contrast the world birth rate in 2000 was about 25 per thousand. In 2011 it is projected to be 19 per thousand. In ten years the rate of birth to death went from 2.5 to 1 to 2.1 to 1. What that means is the population of the world is stabilizing but more people are still being born then die for at least the next 100 years barring nuclear holocaust or a large asteroid with our number on it. The ratio of old spirits to new spirits will continue to decrease at a rate of 1 to 1.5 over the next 100 years if the current trend continues. We old spirits still have our work cut out for us.
I have one more observation to make regarding spirit and I am not sure how it plays into the total picture other than how we treat our young and their emerging spirits. If reincarnation happens it is obvious that we have to connect our spirits to every physical form we conjoin with. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this is not an easy process. Maybe we get better at it the more times we do it. That may be a factor in the process. It is not something we can easily observe and it would be a waste of time trying to. Here is what I have observed.
As infants we appear to be totally connected to our spirits. We see babies as miracles and angels precisely for that reason. My hypothesis is this is the time our spirit is downloading abilities and knowledge to its newly acquired body. There are a huge number of factors at play here. I am not going to outline them all. Most of you know what they are. I could write a book on the subject. I have written a blog on the subject. In most cases the experiences of any previous life are not downloaded but the evidence overwhelmingly supports the fact that past life recall happens to the very young when it does happen. Any attempts to do past life recall later in life are a crap shoot at best.
There is another fact. As we have evolved our technical abilities and knowledge have increased exponentially and children being born today are starting off knowing a lot more than they used to. What that means is they are not going to sit there quietly while you try and shove concepts at them they have already made their minds up on.
That is making raising children a lot more difficult then it used to be. This is not an easy dilemma as there are conditions that require medical attention which manifest in the same was as a person already believing or knowing something contrary to what you are trying to teach or tell them. I have no definitive answers. What I believe is covered on another page in this blog. I identify these children with the indigo phenomena solely because we lack any serious research into how to deal with it and because of the phenomena I have experienced.
A lot of people are making a lot of money from every angle in exchange for little or no help and all I can say is you have to start thinking outside the box when it comes to raising kids these days and that is not very easy to do but it is a job you did volunteer for. If you fail to do a good job it will end up breaking your heart for the rest of your life and that is something you really need to focus on when you try to force a belief system on a child that adamantly refuses to accept it. In contrast, if you don't seek medical aid for a child that really needs it, you are letting the child down. I suggest any parent meditate on how to proceed and good luck. I do believe there are more and more people who are honestly trying to help and by all means seek them out. The internet is a fabulous tool for doing just that. Just be careful out there.
There is another observation I have made regarding our spirit connecting to a new physical body. As I said above, the human spirit present in an infant is obvious. I seriously doubt I will ever have anyone argue against it. What is also obvious, though we attempt to ignore it, is the human spirit appears to disengage from the child as they grow toward puberty in most children. This is very hard to accept in both ourselves and our children because it comes with a lot of pain and anguish on both sides. We joke about it a lot but it is not very funny.
It appears our spirit goes into hiding after it is through downloading information and ability. I have no idea why. I also know it doesn't happen to all people but it does happen to most people unless circumstances prevent it from happening, How many times have we seen a person's spirit emerge in moments of tragedy? We all have stories so our spirit does not go away. It's almost like it goes to sleep and has to be woke up. The only way I know to snap it out of it's slumber is meditation but does anyone have a way they can get a teenager to meditate? I have no idea why our spirit goes into hiding and I have no idea on how to get teenagers to meditate. I do know when my spirit dozed off, it took 57 years to wake it up again. At 72 it isn't hard to meditate given the incentive.
So someone needs to to do some serious research into why this phenomena happens. It is obvious it happens and if we understood it maybe the transition would become easier for both the teenagers and their parents.
I have stated elsewhere that spirit is unique to homo sapiens on this planet. Since the topic here is spirit, this is a good place to address the issue. There are literally thousands of clues proving my hypothesis. Here is one of the clues that proves what I am saying. It is just one. If it takes me pointing out each one so everyone sees what is obvious, I probably won’t finish in this lifetime. This is a big clue. One word, Fire.
No one can question the fascination we all have with fire. The most knowledgeable physicist in the world on thermodynamics is just as fascinated staring into a campfire as anyone with an IQ under 100. Both leave their marshmallows in too long. Fire was one of the tools that signaled man evolving the ability to have a spirit. Think about it. Think about the role fire plays in all things spiritual and religious and continues to do so even though we totally understand it’s properties.
Fire and our spirits are connected. Look at how other living creatures respond to fire. It was the way man reacted to fire before we had spirit. Their first reaction is fear. An animal freezing its butt off will not go near a fire even though it feels the warmth. House pets are exempt from this because they follow our lead. In contrast, even our children are fascinated by fire and will burn their house down if we don’t keep fire sources away from them. If you build a campfire and you see chimpanzees sitting around it with a sense of awe I will concede chimpanzees have spirit.
I don't have anything further to add regarding our spirit at this time. I never know what any new day is going to hold. Meditate, find your spirit and enjoy your life.

I am expanding my hypothesis to include the concept of an evolving spirit. Physical life evolves. It is now my belief spiritual life evolves also and it evolves hand in hand with physical evolution. The simplest life forms on this planet have a spirit but they do not have a soul.
I think I now know the 4 main steps that have happened in spiritual evolution since the first protein based microbe found itself swimming in the primordial soup that was this planet in its infancy. Infancy regarding life forms. The planet had been here for tens of thousands of millennium One can say every thing exists but lifeless matter does not exist in the same way life does. Look at the rock which can come into existence as a planet or star. Planets and parts of planets diminish in size until basic compounds are no more than grains of sand on the beach. Stars may expand but their density controls their size. The process is slow.
Life does just the opposite. It grows more and more complex, to the point a creature evolves that can control or change the environment it finds itself in. It changes quickly no matter which measurement of time is used. Humankind would be well served to throw out all philosophical and religious thoughts and leave things right there. There is no need to having more purpose, whether by design or chance. Of course we won’t stop using our minds to explore the unknown. It comes with the ability to change our environment.
We could leave it right there but
something is missing. Anyone who reads the above paragraph can feel something
is missing. We know it exists like that rock exists no matter how fine the sand
is but we can’t measure it or see it. Not totally true. Some of us can see it
and my hypothesis is we can also measure it but, for this argument, let’s say
we can’t. I am talking about spirit and its ultimate form our unique souls.
Everything is based in energy.
Until time became important all there was, was
energy. Mass comes from energy, spirit comes from energy, Neither has to exist,
both do. Turn the reason for their existence into a religion if you desire but
please do not tell anyone it is a fact. Facts have to be proven, faith does
not. Humankind needs to stop using faith as fact immediately. We all suffer
because so many do.
As life evolved so did spirit. As
live evolved to the point a being could control its own environment, spirit
evolved to a unique soul. Why wouldn’t they if both exist? I am not going to
teach biological evolution here. It has been thoroughly researched and very well
documented. Anyone who chooses to not believe it is a fool. I want to present
my hypothesis for the evolution of a soul.
There are 4 stages to existence. The
first stage is put simply existence. The simplest of organisms exists and procreates by one
method or another. As each stage is reached , the previous stage is carried with
it. In this most rudimentary of stages the entity responds to stimuli. There is
no awareness. From this, basic structures combine and the physical part of life
becomes more complex. So does the spiritual, The evolution of both continues
until the second stage is reached, I call this stage awareness. Beings that are
aware have organs dedicated to certain senses. The interaction of spirit and
senses is responsible for abilities like fright and a sense of caution, There is
no thought in the second stage but there is awareness.
Evolution marches on. Complexity and
spiritual development continue and the third stage is reached, Awareness is
replaced by conscious thought and emotions. This is the sentient stage. In all
cases but one evolution has basically stopped on the spiritual side and has slowed
dramatically on the biological side, Change now comes in response to changes
in the environment. The life forms are highly adaptable but evolution will make
no significant changes from this point forward. If there are drastic and sudden
changes to the environment the life forms will perish. They will perish in
reverse order with the simplest surviving if survival is possible. The
process will start all over if the environment allows the process to occur.
If
evolution continues long enough the fourth stage is reached by only one species
in any unique environmental structure. This requires little or no adaptation on
the physical side, it is a profound step on the spiritual side. The sentient
beings become unique souls. I call this the responsibility stage. This creature
gains the ability to control its own environment and in doing so becomes
responsible for all other life forms in the environment along with the
environment. That species on the planet we call earth is homo sapiens and we
are very new at doing it.
There is another step which is not a
whole new stage, it is an addition to the 4th stage I call this the empathic
state. Like physical evolution, there is no sudden change. A few are born with the talent and since the change is beneficial to the evolutionary process more and more are being born with the ability.
It is my hypothesis that the combination of physical body and our spiritual soul is a randomly controlled event. We are products of the universe we live in. There is no reason other than faith, which lacks proof or it wouldn't be called faith, for the process to be anything other than a random process. This is how evolution works for both the physical and mental aspects of our existence. All permutations and combinations are possible. The soul is eternal but the physical mind dominates at this point in our evolution. That is in the process of changing. Parents see this as children who refuse to do things their way. Faith sees it as the work of the devil in western religions. There is resistance but nothing will stop the process as long as we do not annihilate ourselves during the process of changing. The polarization we see in today's society is a byproduct of this phenomena.
This puts those who have evolved first into a bit of a pickle. They do not conform with the norm. They are horrified by the way their species treats members of their own species as well as other species and the total disregard most have for the environment we live in. They have become responsible. Others around them have not. The first ones to evolve are like children and as children they respond with anger. They may even resort to the violence they abhor to right all the wrongs they see. As a soul who made this transition a long time ago all I can tell them is try and have patience. the best any of us can do is educate. The more we educate, the more physical bodies there will be that can adapt to the evolutionary change our spirits are undergoing.
